What Our Guests Are Saying

A great surprise!

"We stayed 1 night and were not sure we were at the right spot when we pulled up. This Historic Building was once an actual Customs office. It is right across from the water and next to an old train station. The Inn Keeper Doug was very friendly and directed us down the street to eat. Our room had 16' high ceilings and everything we needed. The comp breakfast was in the basement, brick walls and had high ceilings as well. I guess it used to be a bar at one time. It was super!"

Great Stay!

“Huge room, huge windows, very high ceiling, glossy old wooden floor — certainly unusual and reflected its original use as an office in an actual Customs House. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom, with a huge tub. Breakfast was minimal (self-serve cereal and toast, coffee and tea) but served in a very cool former “pub” in the ground level. Doug was very friendly and we had a nice chat. A nice stopover on our trip!”

Excellent

“Your stay is in a beautiful historic building on the waterfront. The rooms are grand with 12' ceilings large windows and a well out fitted bathroom. We had a wonderful stay.”

Unique Room Features

Most Custom House Inn rooms include original fireplace facades. Made from marble and slate, in a variety of colours, the fireplaces originally burnt coal to heat each room. Today, these fireplaces are signature details of our historic Inn.

“A lovely historic old property with charm and character. Stairs to climb, but roomy and accomodating.”
